A comprehensive drinking water project with international standards will be implemented for Ottappalm Assembly constituency, M. Hamsa, MLA, has said.

He was addressing a seminar on formulating a development master plan for Ottappalam constituency at Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) on Monday. “Under the project, the purity of water will be tested every two hours. The project will be implemented before 2016,” he said.

The project will be implemented in Ottappalam municipality, and Kadambazhippuram, Pukkottukavu, Karimpuzha and Sreekrishnapuram panchayats in the initial phase. The long-term projects should get priority in planning, he added.

Central projects

In addition to exploring the possibilities of Kudumbasree Mission, there should be efforts to procure other Centrally-sponsored projects for the constituency, he added.

KILA Director P.P. Balan, who presided over the function, said MLAs have a key role in local-level development.
