The office of the South Kerala diocese of the Church of South India has clarified that the allegations against Bishop A. Dharmaraj Rasalam for allegedly collecting huge sums of money from medical aspirants for admission to the Dr. Somerwell Memorial CSI Medical College, Karakonam, were being raised to tarnish his image in the run-up to the election to the post of Moderator of the Church of South India on January 11.

Only contestant

Bishop Rasalam is the only contestant from Kerala and therefore, these allegations are aimed at tarnishing his image and bringing the government under pressure to take legal action against him, a pressnote issued by the office said.
