KOCHI: Education Minister E. T. Mohammed Basheer has said that credibility, transparency, openness and social responsibility should top the corporate agenda for excellence.

He was inaugurating the second international conference on `Excellence in the New World Order: Agenda for Indian Corporates' organised at the Rajagiri School of Management here on Saturday.

The Minister pointed out that globalisation was a reality that could not be ignored. "We cannot live on islands of our own," he said as he called for competence to take on the new challenges.

Using the process of globalisation to our advantage was important as was done by several corporate success stories in the country. He cited the examples in various industries in which Indian corporates had emerged on top despite severe competition from multinational companies.

Dr. Augustine Thottakkara, Provincial of the Sacred Heart Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate, delivered the presidential address. Seminar Coordinator Manoj Mathew and Rajagiri Principal Joseph I. Injodey were among those who spoke at the inauguration.
