CPI demand

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Nov. 24. The CPI State executive has called upon the Government to disclose the details of its agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Pointing out that the Chief Minister, A. K. Antony, himself had expressed unhappiness about the conditions put forward by the ADB some weeks ago and had promised to ensure transparency when signing the agreement, the CPI State executive wondered how the agreement could have been signed in secrecy accepting all the conditions put forward by the ADB.

The CPI executive said the conditions put forward by the ADB were all encompassing and its stress seemed to be on withdrawal of the Government from productive sectors and largescale privatisation of such crucial areas of the economy as electricity, water supply, healthcare and education.
