Corporation to construct 20,000 rainwater pits

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JUNE 1. The City Corporation is preparing to take up a project to construct 20,000 rainwater pits all over the city.

The project will be implemented as part of the World Environment Day celebrations on June 5.

An official pressnote quoting the Mayor, J. Chandra, said the Corporation would convene a meeting of ward councillors, representatives of voluntary agencies, residents associations and `Ayalkoottams', school headmasters, officials from various departments and resident medical officers of hospitals on Wednesday to discuss the project.

The meeting will be held at the Corporation Council lounge at 4 p.m.
