`Convert police stations into relief centres'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 11. The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, has called for converting police stations into relief centres that provide justice and protection to the common man.

The Chief Minister, who was speaking at the passing out parade of the Third Kerala Armed Police Training Battalion in Thiruvananthapuram today, said that the police machinery would be considered to have succeeded fully only if an atmosphere that permitted this prevailed in the police stations. He undertook to take steps to modernise the force.

The Chief Minister also presented trophies to Constable Trainees Vivek, Santhosh Kumar, Shanawaz, Samer, Ranjith and Anil Kumar who excelled in various areas during the training.
