CM, leaders condole death

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Jan. 3. The Chief Minister, A. K. Antony, Ministers, political leaders and cultural persons have condoled the death of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi chairman, N. P. Mohammed.

The Revenue Minister, K. M. Mani, said Mohammed had given an incomparable reading experience to Malayalis with his novels touching on the lives of ordinary people.

The CPI State secretary, Veliyam Bhargavan, described Mohammed as a close ally of progressive movements which had played a pivotal role in enlightening the masses about the dangers faced by secularism and democracy.

The KPCC president, K. Muraleedharan, said in Mohammed's death he had lost a close friend.

The BJP State president, C. K. Padmanabhan, and the general secretary, P. P. Mukundan, said Mohammed had enriched Malayalam with his works and his unstinted warmth.
