Chandy under shadow of doubt: Pinarayi

KOTTAYAM, OCT. 11. The CPI(M) State secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan, today said that the conduct of the investigation into the Kiliroor sex scandal has put the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, under a shadow of suspicion.

He was speaking to presspersons after visiting the victim of the Kiliroor sex scandal victim here.

The admonition of the police by the High Court on the conduct of the investigation, and later the undue interest shown by the Chief Minister in the case by conferring with the investigating officers of the Kaviyoor suicide case point to the interference in the investigation, Mr. Vijayan said. The disregard shown by the police in finding the correct date of birth of the victim too raises doubts on the minds of the people.

Mr. Vijayan said that the doctors had told him that the condition of the girl was still serious and that she used to get upset when she encountered many visitors and VIPs at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital where she had been admitted. This has set at rest the controversy over the issue of the visit of one particular VIP to the victim, following which the condition of the girl deteriorated, he said. The controversy has been fomented to keep the focus away from the failures of the Chief Minister and the Government, he alleged.
