Chandrika Editor killed in accident

KOZHIKODE, AUG. 21. Rahim Mecheri, Editor of Chandrika, died in a road accident at Idimuzhikkal in Malappuram district early this morning.

He was 57 and is survived by his wife and four children. Rahim Mecheri was with Chandrika for 27 years and was appointed Editor of the daily last year. His writings on political and religious issues were widely read and appreciated.

Rahim was on his way home at Kuzhimanna, near Kizhisserry in Malappuram, when the jeep in which he was travelling collided with a KSRTC bus. The accident occurred around 5-30 a.m.

The driver of the jeep, Vinu Kumar, is in a critical condition. Two others passengers in the vehicle are under treatment at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
