KERALA

Campaign to woo business travellers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM APRIL 15. To woo the corporate and business travellers, Kerala Tourism has launched a `Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions' (MICE) tourism campaign involving over 50 properties spread out across the most attractive locales of the State.

After having established itself as one of the South Asia's premium boutique destinations, God's Own Country is wooing the corporate travellers in both international and domestic markets with its unique natural attractions, which are slated to be a refreshing change from the clichd MICE packages.

The highest telecom density in the country, optic fibre networks, three international airports and an excellent road and rail network give Kerala a decisive edge on MICE tourism.

Besides, world class conferencing facilities including the convention centres in Kochi, the largest in South India, and in Kovalam, the presence of reputed international hospitality chains such as Le Meridien, Taj and Oberoi groups ensure world class hospitality and services to the high flying corporates.

Kerala's proximity to software hubs in the South such as Bangalore and Hyderabad makes it an obvious option for a quick but refreshing getaway in the domestic corporate circuit.

It is also being targeted for mega events due to the innovative options and conferencing facilities at hand.

The MICE tourism campaign has been launched in the wake of Kerala hosting several high-profile corporate events, according to tourism officials.

With an estimated annual growth between 9 to 10 per cent, MICE tourism alone accounts for over US $ 90 billion of the tourism market.

Besides, with incentive packages fast becoming part of the corporate culture, Asian destinations with exotic experiences at affordable package rates are becoming preferred options for MICE tourism. Indian corporates are also hot on domestic corporate incentive packages and refreshing conferencing possibilities, according to tourism officials.

The MICE tourism campaign launched by Kerala Tourism covers over 50 properties spread out across the most attractive locales.

For corporate travellers, who are looking at breaking away from the monotony of regular business meetings and conferences in major tourist destinations, Kerala has much to offer.

Enchanting houseboat journeys across the backwaters of the State double up with innovative venues for board meetings and brainstorming sessions.

Exotic wildlife resorts, breathtaking beach resorts and cool hill resorts offer quite unconventional venues for conventions and conferences.

For the adventure seeking traveller arriving on working vacations, wildlife safaris, paragliding, rock climbing and mountain biking are on offer.

Drifting along the lazy emerald backwaters of the State is just the remedy for the corporate traveller seeking refuge from the stress filled corridors of power.

The lush evergreen forests provide a welcome change from the intimidating concrete jungles.
