Staff strike: dies non to be invokedTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government has issued orders invoking dies non (no work, no pay) policy against Government employees and teachers joining the strike called for by some of their organisations on December 12. Salary for unauthorised absence on the strike day will be withheld . No leave would be sanctioned on strike day, except on medical grounds or other emergencies, said an official release.The police had been asked to provide security to offices. Those engaging in violence would be prosecuted. Special Correspondent

Branded coir soonTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Coir produced in Kerala will be marketed as a brand from next year. The brand name and catch line will be "Kerala coir golden fibre of God's Own Country." The brand, which is to reflect the unique geographical factors and skill of coir workers in the State, will be launched here on January 26. The newly formed organising committee for the function, which met here on Wednesday, with Minister for Cooperation and Coir G. Sudhakaran in the chair, decided to organise an exhibition of coir products and the coir-making process in connection with the launch of the brand name.

The devotees should send money order of Rs.210 addressed to the Executive Officer, Travancore Devaswom Board, Sabarimala, Pathanamthitta, PIN 689713 to get the Prasadam by post. `Wage disparity will hit cashew industry'KOLLAM: Jayaprakash G. Panikkar, State convener of the KPCC Vichar Vibhag, has said that the disparity in the minimum wages for the cashew workers in the various southern States will hit the cashew industry here. At a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that following the recent wage revision for cashew workers in Kerala, the wages here stand exorbitantly high compared to other States. Staff Reporter
