Brewery: IUML seeks Minister’s resignation

The Indian Union Muslim League has supported Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala’s demand for a judicial inquiry into the alleged corruption in granting licence to set up breweries and demanded that Minister for Excise T.P. Ramakrishnan resign from his post.

Party general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, MP, said here on Thursday that the process of approval was not transparent.

“This episode proves that the State government does not have a proper liquor policy. The issue was not discussed neither in the Cabinet nor on the committee on political affairs. The suspicious grant of licences in violation of rules happened during the floods. It is a classic case of corruption,” he added.
