BPCL to fund 4 start-ups

Funds to be released under Project Ankur scheme

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has entered into an agreement to provide grants for four start-ups nurtured by the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM).

The public sector major signed the agreements at Technopark here on Monday. The funding for the start-ups will be released under the Project Ankur scheme that aims at developing an ecosystem to foster entrepreneurship. The start-ups to benefit from the scheme are Gen Robotics, Sastra Robotics, Waferchips and Nava Design. The BPCL will help the start-ups in establishing innovative ideas with business potential, social relevance and focussed on environment-protection.

Gen Robotics has developed a robot called Bandicoot for cleaning manholes while Sastra Robotics makes industrial robotic manipulators and Nava Design has come up with a machine for tapping of coconut trees for neera.

Waferchips is active in making microchips that can be used in home automation and healthcare fields. The agreements were signed in the presence of Dr. Saji Gopinath, CEO, KSUM.
