Balakrishna Pillai hits out at Chandy

KOLLAM, OCT. 7. The Kerala Congress(B) chairman, R. Balakrishna Pillai, has said that the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, through his actions, is conveying the message that the UDF ministry is not in any way linked to the previous UDF dispensation.

Talking to reporters here today, he said that the programmes included in Mr. Chandy's 100-day action plan were not different from those undertaken by the Antony Government.

Even the UDF committee had not been convened to discuss the action plan, he said. Mr. Balakrishna Pillai said that though his party was a constituent of the UDF, he had not been even aware of what was happening within it. "I feel as though I am being imprisoned in the UDF," he said.

When V.M. Sudheeran alleged that the Indian Union Muslim League and the mineral sand mafia were responsible for his defeat in Alappuzha, the Congressmen did not speak a word against that party, Mr. Balakrishna Pillai said. "For no reason, I am being blamed for the UDF defeat in Adoor", he said.

Mr. Balakrishna Pillai said that outside forces were trying to foment trouble within his party. They were not from the LDF, he added.

Mr. Balakrishna Pillai said that with the present style of management, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) stood doomed. It would break down in two months.
