SBT bags 'best blood donor' awardTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Bank of Travancore has bagged the award for the best blood donor organisation, instituted by Terumo Penpol Ltd., in association with the National Service Scheme of the University of Kerala. R.G. Gadkari, General Manager, received the award on behalf of the bankfrom S.Y. Savur, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command, at a function organised in connection with World Blood Donors Day. M.K. No Tamil Nadu boats during banThiruvananthapuram: District collector N. Ayyappan said the Government would not allow mechanised boats from Tamil Nadu to fish in the regional waters during the monsoon trawling ban.

The help of the Coast Guard and the Marine Enforcement wing has been sought for the purpose. The Kanyakumari District Collector has been informed that the trawling ban would extend till July 29. Staff Reporter

DIC(K) suspends office-bearerThiruvananthapuram: DIC (K) district president, P. Vijayadas, has been suspended from the primary membership of the party. The suspension was ordered by party president, K. Muralidharan, following charges that Mr. Vijayadas had worked against the interests of the organisation. Staff Reporter

`Demand for High Court Bench genuine'THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Water Resources N.K. Premachandran has described the demand to set up a High Court bench in the capital city as `genuine' and `justifiable.' He was speaking here at a function organised by the Trivandrum Bar Association to felicitate him along with the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, C. Divakaran at the bar association hall on Thursday. The function was also attended by Panniyan Raveendran MP and George Mercier MLA.
