Parliamentary panel visits defence units

KOCHI: A Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence arrived here on Wednesday on a two-day visit to various defence units in the city. The committee will carry out a study on `modernisation of armed forces and human resources policy and manpower planning,' according to an official release. - Staff Reporter

Awareness drive

KOCHI: Harithagiri, a three-day camp organised by first year students of the Rajagiri School of Computer Science, began here on Wednesday. Students will create awareness on solid waste management during the programme. They will also visit houses as part of the campaign.

Plea for review

KOCHI: The Association for Environment Protection has urged the State Government to review all agreements on water issues made with Tamil Nadu in view of the `critical' situation in Mullaperiyar. In a press release, association representatives pointed out that Tamil Nadu's demand for increasing the height of the dam was aimed at improving the efficiency of power production. - Staff Reporter
