SCMS pact with Microsoft

KOCHI, APRIL 24. The SCMS School of Engineering and Technology (SSET), Karukutty, has signed an agreement with Microsoft Corporation for establishing a cyber academy competency centre at the SCMS campus aimed at offering education in software technology. According to the agreement, SCMS Engineering College will be authorised to conduct the Microsoft trainer certificate and other training courses conducted by the Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft will provide software and teaching facility. SCMS will provide basic infrastructure and hardware for the programme. SCMS will be authorised to conduct all software programmes of Microsoft. The first batch of the programme will begin in July this year.

Election expenditure

The District Collector has asked the candidates contesting in the Ernakulam and Muvattupuzha Parliamentary constituencies to submit the register, vouchers and bills of their election expenditure at the District Collectorate before 5 p.m. on April 26. Candidates in the Ernakulam constituency should appear before the Finance Officer. Candidates in the Muvattupuzha constituency should appear before the District Planning Officer, according to an official communication.

Mobile health project

A mobile health project organised by the Rotary Clubs of Cochin was inaugurated at a function held at AMMS School in Kadamakudy panchayat here today. The mobile health project is the third phase of a mega community project initiated by the Rotary Clubs in 2002. A boat and an ambulance will be provided to the Lourde Hospital to facilitate check-up for islanders of Kadamakudy panchayat under the project. Around 1,200 families are expected to benefit from the programme, Shaji Varghese, president of Rotary Club of Cochin West, said in a communication.

Personality development

The Chavara Cultural Centre will organise a personality development camp for children at its library hall from May 3 to 9. Training will be given in acting, elocution and development of memory and learning techniques to children. Children will stage a play at the end of the camp.
