BSNL Adalat to be held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The next BSNL Circle Telecom Adalat will be held in December. Petitions may be forwarded to J. Gomathy Ammal, Assistant General Manager (PG), Public Grievance Cell, Office of the Chief General Manager Telecom, BSNL, Thiruvananthapuram- 33, before November 30. The envelope containing the petition should be superscribed as Circle Telecom Adalat XVIII. Complaints received after November 30 will be taken up in the next Adalat.

Cellphones banned

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The District Collector has banned the use of cellphones, cordless phones and wireless sets inside polling stations and within a radius of 100 metres from polling stations on the day of the Lok Sabha bypoll. Any such device found on a person will be confiscated and returned only after the declaration of the election results.

Infants found

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two infants, a boy and a girl, have been found abandoned at the `Amma cradle' of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare, during the past two days. The baby boy weighs five kg and seems to be five months old. The girl weighs two and a half kg and seems to be 10 months old.

Convict escapes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shobhanan Nair who was being taken to the Central Jail at Poojappura to serve a 30-day sentence escaped on the way to the prison. According to the police, Shobhanan Nair was brought to the city from Mavelikkara by two court officials. When the three of them entered a hotel at Aristo junction on Monday morning for breakfast, the convict managed to run away.
