Flights unaffected by strike

Thiruvananthapuram: The flights to and from the international airport here were not affected by the nation-wide strike call given by the Airport Authority's Employees Union on Thursday in protest against "modernisation of airports through privatisation."

"All the 13 flights, including those from the Gulf, arrived and departed as per schedule during the 12-hour strike period that began at 7 a.m. Some flights came before the schedule and departed before the schedule," said K. Natarajan, Airport Director. — Staff Reporter

Inauguration of court computerisation project

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The computerisation drive linking the district courts of Thiruvananthapuram, Neyyattinkara and Nedumangad will be inaugurated by Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan, High Court judge, at the Vanchiyoor Court complex on Saturday. The project, implemented by the National Informatics Centre, will help the judicial administration to streamline its routine activities, reduce backlog of cases, create judicial database and provide information access to litigants. — Staff Reporter

Passes away

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Janamma Sivaram, wife of M. Sivaram, prominent journalist of yesteryear, passed away at her residence, News House, at Golf Links here on Thursday. She was 92. The cremation will take place at the Thycaud crematorium on Friday morning. — Special Correspondent
