Water supply to be disrupted

Thiruvananthapuram : Water supply to several areas coming under the Observatory and Thirumala zones will be disrupted from 10 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Sunday in view of the urgent repair works being carried out in the 1200 mm cement pipe line near Aruvikkara reservoir.

The repairs works are being undertaken following the detection of a leak in the joint of the 1200 mm pipeline. Water supply to Palayam, Statue, Ayurveda College, Kaithamukku, Vanchiyoor, Patoor, Plamoodu, Kannamoola, Pettah, Valiyathura, Airport, Shanghumughom, Chaka, Veli, Thumba, Vazhuthacaud, Vellayambalam, Sasthamangalam, Jagathy, Thycaud, Aryasala, PTP Nagar, Maruthumkuzhy, Edapazhanjy, Thirumala, Karamana, Killipalam, Thamalam, Poojappura and Mudavanmugal will be affected, Executive Engineer, Public Health Division, Kerala Water Authority, said in a press release. — Staff Reporter

Baby found abandoned

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A baby girl, approximately weighing 2 kg, was found abandoned in the electronic cradle, `Amma,' at the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare premises at Thycaud on Friday morning. This is the 47th baby and the 27th baby girl to be found in the cradle. — Staff Reporter
