AIR transmission timings changed

KOCHI: The transmission timings of All India Radio, Kochi FM Station, will be changed from Saturday, with the morning transmission being extended by one hour till 10 a.m. The morning film songs at 8.30 a.m. will continue till 9.30 except on Tuesdays. Classical music by eminent artists will be broadcast from 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The afternoon transmission will conclude at 4 p.m. instead of the present timing of 5 p.m. from Saturday onwards, according to the Assistant Station Director K. Life term for murder

Kochi: The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Judge T. B. Sivaprasad on Wednesday sentenced to life imprisonment an accused in the case relating to the murder of Shine, a DYFI worker, at Thripunithura. The accused, Omanakuttan of Vadayar, has been directed to pay a fine of Rs. 20,000.The prosecution case was that Shine was strangulated to death by the accused in November 1998 near the Temple at Puthiyakavu.— Staff Reporter

Meeting

KOCHI: A meeting of the heads of schools in Ernakulam Educational District will be held at Sikshak Sadan, Ernakulam on Friday from 9.30 a.m. for discussing activities of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, according to District Educational Officer Baby Usha Kiran. State level leaders of Bharat Scouts will attend the meeting.— Staff Reporter
