Vacation classes

KOCHI, MARCH 25. The summer vacation classes for school students organised by Nest Cyber campus will begin on April 11. Students from V std to XII std can participate. Classes will be held in cartoon animation, animation drawing, character designing, caricaturing, cartoon films designing, story drawing, painting, decorative drawing, memory drawing and model drawing. Coaching programme

The Ernakulam Public Library will conduct coaching classes on communicative English from April 6. Eligibility for joining the programme is pass in Plus Two examinations. Classes will be held on three days a week between 5.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. Classes will also be held in communicative grammar, English pronunciation and vocabulary. Award for scribe

James Kuttanchira, senior reporter of Deepika, has won the V. Karunakaran Nambiar award instituted by the Kerala Press Academy. Mr. James won the award for his series on human rights issues published between December 13 and 17 last year. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 2,500 and citation.

Trek to Pinavoorkudi

The Youth Hostels Association of India will conduct a trek to Pinavoorkudi tribal colony, near Pooyamkutty, on April 3. The fee for attending the programme is Rs.100. Lensman bags award

T. Mohammad Mavoor, photographer of Siraj in Kozhikode, has won the environmental photography award instituted by the Social Association for Forest and Environment. The award comprising a cash prize of Rs. 3,001 and plaque will be presented to him at a function in Ernakulam on April 24.


The Edappally Brahmana Samooham will organise a talk on `Messages from the epic for world good' by Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan, scientist at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Thiruvananthapuram, on March 26. The programme will be held at 3.30 p.m. at the Edappally Gayathri hall.


The Kathakali Appreciation Course conducted jointly by the Ernakulam Kathakali Club and Centre for Studies in Culture and Heritage of Cochin (CSCHC) will begin on Sunday. The seven-day-long course will be held at Cultural Heritage Hall (Old Usha Tourist Home) at Kacheripady every evening. The session will begin at 5.30 p.m. and continue till 7.30 p.m.
