Train services to be partially cancelled

KOCHI, MARCH 17. Train services will be stopped between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. between Thurvaur and Kumbalam from March 19 to April 19 (except Sundays) due to urgent engineering maintenance work. Train No. 6346 Trivandrum-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus express will be stopped for 25 minutes at Thuravur. Train Nos. 6307/6308 Alleppey-Kannur-Alleppey express will be partially cancelled between Ernakulam Junction and Alleppey. Train Nos. 335/334 Ernakulam-Kayamkulam-Ernakulam passenger trains will be partially cancelled between Ernakulam and Shertalai, according to a release issued by the Southern Railway.

Notice issued

Kerala State Pollution Control Board has issued show cause notice to Merchem at Eloor in connection with the fugitive emissions from the company between 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on March 13. Investigation conducted by the board officers has led to the inference that the foul smell in the area was caused by fugitive emissions from the factory. The Board has asked the company to show cause within three days of the receipt of the notice as to why action shall not be taken against it .

New telematics system

Amrita Research Labs (ARL), the research and development wing of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, has successfully developed a new Wi-Fi-based wireless telematics system for the Konkan Railway's Sky Bus project for its 1.6-km test track in Madgaon, Goa. This technology is expected to significantly benefit State transport corporations, fleet operators and railways in vehicle tracking, fleet scheduling and traffic management, according to a release.
