Balan handed over Rs.50,000 as compensation to the family of Chandran, a contract worker with the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), who was electrocuted on Wednesday while engaged in repairs at Pettah electrical section. Directive to attach college busesTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Second Additional Sub-Court has directed the court officer to attach three buses belonging to the Mary Matha College of Engineering, Paliode, Neyyattinkara, as security for a refund amount which the college owed to a former employee.

The directive comes in the wake of a petition filed by Preethi Elizabeth Iype, a former lecturer of the college, stating that the management was yet to return the `refundable amount' of Rs.3 lakh which she donated for securing the job in December 2004.
