Amritanandamayi at Swachhta relaunch

Mata Amritanandamayi Devi will participate in the national relaunch of the Swachhta Hi Seva 2018 programme on September 15 and interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi through videoconferencing on the occasion.

The event will be broadcast live by Doordarshan and live-streamed by social media handles of the ashram.

Cleanliness drive

Immediately after the launch, hundreds of members of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Amritapuri, Kollam, and its affiliated institutions all over India, including schools, university campuses and ashram branches, will start a massive cleanliness drive.

The residents of the Amritapuri Ashram will clean the 6-km stretch of the coastal belt near the ashram.

Speaking on the importance of environmental protection and cleanliness, Mata Amritanandamayi said, “We should not leave Mother Earth with scars. Instead, we should leave her bedecked her hair with flowers. We should leave her in a better condition than she was when we came to her — never worse. Cleanliness and sanitation are fundamental to the development of any country. If we care about the coming generations — the world that will be inherited by our children and grandchildren — we must act now.”
