Alappuzha Railway station to get a facelift

Union Minister of State for Power K.C. Venugopal holds discussion with officials at the Alappuzha railway station on Monday. Thiruvananthapuram railway division Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Aggarwal is also seen.  

Union Minister of State for Power K.C. Venugopal said that the Alappuzha Railway Station will be upgraded with modern facilities including setting up of escalators. The Minister was speaking to reporters after visiting the Alappuzha railway station as part of his visit to Adarsh model railway stations in the district, to review the progress of works there. Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division, Rajesh Aggarwal also accompanied the Minister in his visit.

Mr. Venugopal said that Alappuzha railway station needed to be modernized in view of the tourism development here. A meeting will be held on April 28 in Alappuzha to discuss the development of the Adarsh model stations in the district.

The issue of drinking water in Harippad, Ambalappuzha and Alappuzha railway stations will be taken up. The construction works of Thumboli Railway Station near here will be speeded up. The issue of passengers from Alappuzha railway station not getting tickets for trains during the night will be sorted out.

The Minister visited the Karunagappally, Ochira, Kayamkulam, Ambalappuzha, Alappuzha, Mararikulam, Chertala and Thurvaur railway stations in the district.
