Accused in murder case arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 24. The Balaramapuram police on Saturday arrested Nawas Khan (30), one of the accused in the murder of Sujabuddeen of Vazhimukku, Athiyannoor.

He is also the accused in a case of armed assault on the Neyyattinkara Dy. SP earlier. Three others in the case have already been arrested while three others are absconding.

Youth dead

A 22-year-old youth, Althaf, a resident of Pallitheruvu, Poonthura, who had been found by the road at Trimurthipuram in an unconscious state, died at the Medical College hospital. His friend, Sathar of Vallakkadavu, who had also been admitted along with him, is missing.

The police suspect that the youth had used narcotic drugs. A case of unnatural death has been registered.

Body found

The body of a 70-year-old woman, Kausalya of Adayamon, Kilimanoor, was found in a compound in the neighbourhood, with the neck and one of the hands severed.

The woman was staying with her son and family.

The police have begun investigations.

The body was cremated after post-mortem examination.

Food poisoning:

6 hospitalised

Six members of a family, five of whom are children, have been kept under observation at the SAT Hospital, after they reported at the casualty with symptoms of food poisoning on Saturday night.

All of them, from Kallara, Pangode, had attended a housewarming ceremony yesterday at which biryani was served, sources at the hospital said.

Those admitted to hospital are Sabitha (10), Saina (7), Mumtaz (4), Razia (13), Sajin (13) and Sarita (22).
