Youth held for hoax bomb call

ALAPPUZHA: A youngster who made a hoax bomb call to the Alappuzha Police Control Room, saying that a bomb would go off any moment at Sabarimala, was arrested from his residence near Aranmula on Saturday. According to the police, Anilkumar, son of Vasudevan, had called the control room around 11.30 a.m. on November 30 from his mobile phone and talked in Hindi about the ‘bomb’. The police, which recorded the number, traced the call to Anilkumar and apprehended him early this morning. A team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police T.P. Dileep and Control Room Sub-Inspector K.A. Thomas led the investigation and are questioning the accused to ascertain why he made the call. —Staff Reporter
