Nedumbassery: G. Madhavan Nair, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has described the progress in the work on the proposed campuses of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) as satisfying and said that the State government had been making a considerable contribution in its progress.

He told The Hindu here recently that the work had gained momentum and would be complete in a time-bound manner. He expressed the hope that land acquisition by the State government for the campuses at Valiyamala and Ponmudi would be completed soon.

The institute, which started functioning last year, offers courses in space technology with specialisation in avionics and aerospace engineering.

The IISC will celebrate its first anniversary on June 5, this year.
