HIGHER MILK PROCUREMENT: Dairy-men bring milk to a collection centre near Nenmara in Palakkad district. The country’s position as the largest producer of milk in the world is unique in that not only a large volume of over 100 million tonnes of milk is produced annually through low-producing cattle and buffaloes owned by landless or marginal farmers, but it is mostly produced from an intake of grasses and straws and not concentrates.   | Photo Credit: — PHOTO: K.
