Vested interests behind false propaganda: Pinarayi

‘Not the first time that they are trying to hunt down CPI(M)’

Blames the Congress and sections of media

Congress getting “increasingly frustrated”

ALAPPUZHA: Communist Party of India (Marxist) secretary of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan sees a combined effort by the Congress, vested interests in certain sections of the media and various other quarters that have long been targeting the CPI(M) behind the ‘false propaganda’ against him.

Inaugurating the EMS Memorial Alissery local committee office of the party here on Saturday, Mr. Vijayan said this was not the first time that these vested interests were trying to hunt down the CPI(M) through baseless campaigns. Some had tried to mislead the public by alleging injection of atheism into school textbooks by the CPI(M). When attempts to destabilise the good work done by the Left Democratic Front in the education sector failed, they came up with a fictitious ‘crusade’ against the Left Democratic Front’s reservation policies. That too failed. And the next attempt was to appease minorities by claiming that the LDF’s policies had made minorities insecure in the State. None of these succeeded. The Congress and its accomplices, who were getting ‘increasingly frustrated’ at the failure of their attempts to stop the growing affection of the public towards the LDF, were now resorting to cheap tactics and even more false propaganda to hound the CPI(M).

‘Public will not believe’

“Things that the CPI (M) has not even dreamt of are being attributed to it. Issues are being contorted and the blame is put on the CPI (M). But what these people have repeatedly failed to understand is that the CPI(M) will not wither under such tactics,” Mr. Vijayan said.
