THRISSUR: AICC secretary Tom Vadakkan on Saturday took exception to the reported remarks against him by KPCC treasurers and Thrissur DCC president C.N. Balakrishnan.

Mr. Balakrishnan had said that the Mr. Vadakkan had very little chance of victory if he were fielded as a candidate in Thrissur in the Lok Sabha election. Mr. Vadakkan told reporters here that it was for the party high command to decide whether he should contest from Thrissur or anywhere else. “Perhaps, Mr. Balakrishnan made the remark having been influenced by a few others who have an eye on the Thrissur seat. He may face disciplinary action for the remarks. The Congress has specific method and manner of choosing and fielding candidates. No party worker should breach the discipline,” he said.

In a statement, Mr. Balakrishnan said his remark was taken out of context and projected by the media.

“It will create confusion among the rank and file when the party is being revitalised at the grassroots,” he said.
