KOCHI: Even while maintaining personal relations, N.N. Satyavrutan could ensure that news reporting was not affected, said K.V. Thomas, Union Minister of State for Food and Agriculture.

He was speaking at the commemorative meeting organised at Mavelipuram colony park, Kakkanad, on Monday, for Mr. Satyavrutan, who died on Monday.

He was one of those few journalists who could excel in various capacities as reporter, editor and news editor, said Thomas Jacob, editorial director of Malayala Manorama.

K. Babu, MLA, presided over the meeting. Dominic Presentation, V.K. Ibrahim Kunju, and M.M. Monayee, MLAs; Sabita Karim, Thrikkakara panchayat president; N. Madhavankutty, P. Rajan and Antony John, mediapersons, spoke.

Malayalam journalism has lost a stalwart, said S. Sarma, Minister for Fisheries and Registration. Kerala Press Academy chairman S.R.
