National Trade Unions Sponsoring Committee to take out Parliament march

KOZHIKODE: The State Trade Union Sponsoring Committee at a meeting held here has chalked out the programmes to be held in Kerala, as a prelude to the Parliament march to be taken out under the aegis of the National Trade Unions Sponsoring Committee on February 18. Kanam Rajendran, convener of the State trade union sponsoring committee, said the 13 major demands of the trade unions would be highlighted through different programmes till February 10.

The district-level meetings will be organised by February 7.

The trade unions are protesting against the dismissal of employees and cut in wages imposed by enterprises under the pretext of the economic crisis.

The need to generate employment opportunities and security of tenure, strengthening of public sector banks and industrial undertakings and strict adherence to labour laws are among the demands placed before the government by the unions. Trade unions, including the AITUC, CITU, HMS, UTUC, TUCI, KTUC(J), NLO, NLU,INLC, besides employee unions of Centre and State government, banks, insurance, defence, post office and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. fedretaions are part of the trade union sponsoring committee.
