Three arrested on charges of murder

Thiruvananthapuram: The police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Shanawaz, 30, who was stabbed to death in front of a toddy shop at Muttathara on March 24.

The accused were identified as Shebiq, 22, `Chakachi' Maheen, 27, and `Karakulam' Abbas. They are all residents of Vallakadavu.

Shanawaz was stabbed to death during a drunken brawl inside the toddy shop. The victim was named as accused in the murder of a remand prisoner in front of the Attakulangara Sub-Jail in 2002.

Maheen was listed as accused in the murder of `Bombay' Siddique, a gang leader, near Muttathara in 2004. A team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Fort, K.C. Sasikumar and Circle Inspector K.S. Gopakumar arrested the suspects.

Theft reported

Unidentified persons broke into a house near Poonthura and stole gold ornaments and a motorbike. The theft was reported from the house of Jimjen. According to the police, Jimjen had locked the house and left for Attingal on March 30. He noticed the burglary the next day.

Woman found dead

A 47-year-old woman was found dead inside her house at Sreekaryam on Monday. She was identified as Sarojini, an employee of the Central Tuber Crops Research Institute.
