Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti celebrations on Friday

KOLLAM: The 155th Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti celebrations, jointly organised by the Sree Narayana trusts and the Kollam union of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, will be held here on September 4.

The city is painted yellow with flags and festoons for the occasion.

SNDP Kollam union president Mohan Sankar and secretary N. Rajendran said here on Tuesday that a jayanti procession would commence from the R. Sankar Smrithi Mandapam on the SIMS hospital complex at 4 p.m.

Apart from Mr. Mohan Sankar and Mr. Rajendran, the procession will be led by union leaders Palazhi Bhaskaran, Mahima Ashokan, Uliyakovil Sasi, Dharmarajan and Aneppil Ramesh.

Members from 70 branches under the union will take part in the procession. The procession will comprise floats from SN College, SN Women’s College, SN ITC, Sankar’s Hospital, VNSS College of Nursing, SN Trust HSS, SN Trust Central School and SN Public School. Folkdance performances will add colour to the procession.

The procession will pass through Chinnakada, Hospital Road, Main Road, Chinnakada Round, Railway Station, Cantonment Maidan Road and end at the SN College grounds.

Forest Minister Benoy Viswom will inaugurate a public meeting in this connection.
