Special trains to clear festival rush

To run between Chennai and Mangalore

Kozhikode: The Southern Railway will run special trains between Chennai and Mangalore three days a week from November 1 to clear the rush of passengers during Deepavali, Bakrid and Christmas.


Train number 0601 will leave Chennai Central at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday to reach Mangalore at 9.30 a.m. the next day.

In the return direction, train number 0602 will leave Mangalore at 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to reach Chennai at 8.30 p.m. the next day.

The service will start from Chennai on November 1. The last service of this special train will be on January 31.

The first service from Mangalore will be on November 2 and the last service on February 1.

The train service will have one AC two-tier coach, one AC three-tier coach, 10 sleeper class coaches, three general second class coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans.


The train will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podhanur, Palakkad, Ottappalam, Shoranur, Kuttippuram, Tirur, Kozhikode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyannur, Kanhangad, Kasaragod and Mangalore.

On its return trip to Chennai the train will also stop at Perambur.

The Chennai-Mangalore train will leave Kozhikode at 4.35 p.m.

On its return journey, it will leave Kozhikode station at 8.05 p.m.
