ITI and LBS Centre to be set up

Bamboo processing centre to come up



Kozhikode: Forest Minister and MLA of Nadapuram Assembly Constituency Benoy Viswom reviewed a development package for that constituency here on Thursday. He that an LBS centre would be inaugurated there this month itself with computer courses including PGDCA. An Industrial Training Institute (ITI) will start functioning from August with electrical and civil trade options. A bamboo processing centre would be inaugurated at Valayam near Nadapuram on May 21.

Total electrification

Mr. Viswom also said that a meeting on total electrification of the Nadapuram would be held on May 26. As part of the package, the constituency was sanctioned Rs.3.37 crore for coconut cultivation. Funds would be sanctioned to protect 10,250 more coconut trees.

Farmers who suffered crop losses were sanctioned Rs.2.69 lakh.

The construction works of the Government Homoeo Hospital at Thuneri in Nadapuram would be completed this year itself.

Computers for schools

Computers were provided to 38 LP schools in the constituency while CD kits were disbursed to all schools in the constituency. The construction of fence, powered by solar energy, to prevent entry of wild animals in the hilly regions was progressing. Preliminary steps to set up forest stations at Naripetta and Kavilumpara had begun.

The meeting also decided to speed up works on drinking water projects and to complete road repair before monsoon. Roads works totalling Rs.6.83 crore was progressing in the constituency. New works totalling Rs.1 crore would be taken up.

A total of Rs.75 lakh has been sanctioned for the constituency from the MLA Local Development Fund and another Rs.75 lakh, under flood relief project. Land acquisition for the approach road at Thottilpalam would be completed in a month.

The preliminary steps for industrial development package have begun. Drinking water projects were in progress in six villages.

Two projects in Valayam and Edacheri panchayats had been inaugurated.
