Self-employment training for youths

KANNUR: The Rudset Institute at Kannapuram here has chalked out 17 short-duration self-employment training programmes for the current financial year.


The institute, one of the 20 such training centres started in 10 states under the joint auspices of the Sree Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Educational Trust, Syndicate Bank and Canara Bank, will offer self-employment training courses in TV repair, electrical wiring and plumbing, digital photography and videography, garment making, mushroom cultivation, plant nursery, goat farming, coconut value-added farming, dairy management and vermicompost, among others.

Youth in the age group of 18 to 35 years in Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts and Mahe could apply, institute director A. Balakrishnan and joint director N.B. Mukundan said at a press conference here on Saturday.

They said the institute had provided self-employment training to 14,093 youths in 415 training programmes. The training programmes were being offered free, they said.
