Oommen Chandy launches project for schools in Kallooppara
PATHANAMTHITTA: Leader of Opposition Oommen Chandy inaugurated a CD library project for schools in Kallooppara Assembly segment as part of the ‘ >it@kallooppara.allschools’ at a function at the CMS Higher Secondary School in Mallappally on Friday.
The project was launched by the previous United Democratic Front Government. Kallooppara has the distinction of becoming the first Assembly segment to achieve 100 per cent computer literacy at school-level in the State.
The project was implemented with financial support from the local area development fund of MLA Joseph M. Puthusserry.
Computers, printers and other accessories for schools in the constituency, from lower primary to higher secondary, were purchased using this fund. In his inaugural address, Mr. Chandy called upon the schoolchildren to utilise the resources available at their schools for updating knowledge.
Mr. Puthusserry presided over the function. District panchayat member, K. Jayavarma, block panchayat president, C.P. Omanakumari Amma, grama panchayat president Kuruvila George and Fr. Thomas Paikkad also spoke.
