Revised UGC pay sought

Special Correspondent

KOZHIKODE: Government college teachers have alleged that the State government is delaying the implementation of revised salary announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for college teachers in order to deprive the benefit to the large number of teachers who are due to retire in March this year.

A State convention of theGovernment College Teachers Organisation urged the State government to implement the full UGC package, including the raising of retirement age.

It alleged that the State government was trying to blame the Centre for the delay though “the fact is that the Centre has agreed to meet 80% of the funds needed to pay the revised salary.”
