Ranni Hindu meet from tomorrow

PATHANAMTHITTA: Uthradom Tirunal Marthanda Varma of the royal family of erstwhile Travancore will inaugurate the 61st Hindu religious meet on the sandbed of the Pampa at Ranni on Sunday.

The meet is being organised by the Ranni Haindava Seva Samiti in association with the Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sanghom (ABASS) and various temple administrative bodies in the locality.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, samiti president P.N. Neelakantan Namboodiri and general secretary P.K. Gopakumar said the meet would be held from February 18 to 25.

Justice K.P. Radhakrishna Menon will preside over the inaugural meet. Swami Sadyodjatha of the Art of Living Foundation, will deliver the benedictory speech at the inaugural session. Noted vocalist Jayan will be honoured on the occasion.

The golden jubilee celebrations of the Harivarasanam chants, penned in praise of Lord Ayyappa by Kambakkudy Kulathoor Harihara Iyer, will be held on February 19. Hindu Aikyavedi general secretary Kummanam Rajashekharan will inaugurate the celebrations at the evening session. The session will be presided by Ayyappa Dharma Parishad president K.R. Aravindakshan. The head of the Ayyappa Seva Ashram in Palakkad, Swami Prabhakarananda Saraswati, will deliver the benedictory speech.

Sreekumaran Thampi, lyricist, will inaugurate the cultural meet on February 20. Dr. D. Babu Paul will preside over the function and Prof. Ambalappuzha Ramavarma will deliver the keynote address.

The Panmana Vidyadhiraja Ashram head, Swami Pranavananda Theerthapada, will inaugurate the Bhagavad Gita meet on February 21. Swami Agamananda Sarawati of the Jnanananda Ashram in Vadakkancherry and Swami Vedananda Saraswati, president of the Gita Mandir Ashram in Kottayam, will also address the meet.

Devaswom Minister G. Sudhakaran will inaugurate the Ayyappa-dharma sammelan on February 22. ABASS general secretary N. Sreenivasan will preside over the function and the Pandlam palace managing committee president, P. Ramavarma Raja, will deliver the keynote address. ABASS volunteer captain Thanchavur Damodaran will be honoured on the occasion.

The Swami Vivekananda commemoration meet will be held on February 23. Dr. Sukumar Azhikode, Swami Garudadhwajananda of the Vazhoor Theerthapada Ashram and Prof. Hareendranatha Kurup will address the meet.

Aswathi Tirunaal Gowri Lakshmi Bhai of the Kowdiar Palace will inaugurate the women's meet on February 24 afternoon. Mathru Mandalam State working president Lakshmi S. Rao will preside over the meeting and Ma Jnanabhanishta of Kollam Santhananda Ashram will deliver the keynote address.

Prof T.G. Purushothaman Nair, president of the Kerala Hindumatha Adhyapaka Parishad, will preside over the Sunday Religious Schools' meet on February 25.

Former president of the Travancore Devaswom Board G. Raman Nair will inaugurate the valedictory meet, later in the afternoon. Akeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri, tantri of the Thiruvalla Sree Vallabha Temple, will preside. Swami Poornamruthananda Puri, general secretary of the Amrithan andamayi Math, will talk.
