PALAKKAD: A convention on ‘earth, environment and man’ held here on Saturday has urged the Government to take steps to resume 47,500 acres of Government land encroached upon in the district.

A resolution passed at the convention said that 25,000 acres of forest land, 20,000 acres of revenue land and 2,500 acres of river bed were encroached upon in the district. P.S. James, secretary, CPI (M-L) said that a mass agitation would be launched demanding takeover of the Government land.
