Online issue of certificates launched

: Local Self-Government Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty inaugurated an online system for access and issue of birth, death and marriage certificates from local bodies at the city Corporation office on Thursday. Mayor C. Jayan Babu presided over the function.

Speaking at the function, Mr. Mohammed Kutty said the online system would help in avoiding inconvenience to the public by enabling access and verification of birth, death and marriage certificates from any part of the world through Internet.

The system has been installed by Information Kerala Mission (IKM), an e-governance cell under the Local Self-Government Department. The Sevana Civil Registration software developed by the IKM will enable online verification of birth, death and marriage certificates registered at local bodies. The certificates can be downloaded and printed from the Sevana website using the facility.

IKM executive chairman and director M.K. Prasad said the Sevana Civil Registration software has been installed in all local bodies. He said 325 hospitals have set up registration kiosks for registering births and deaths.
