KOLLAM: Tailing a Minister’s car landed a van driver into trouble on Tuesday.

Rajesh was detained by the Paripally police on the National Highway for following the official car of the Minister for Public Works Mons Joseph.

Mr. Joseph was on his way to Thiruvananthapuram from Alappuzha. When the car reached Ochira, the Minister’s gunman noticed a tourist van close behind. The van maintained its pace through Karunagapally, Chavara, Neendakara, Kollam city, Kottiyam and Chathannur. His suspicions aroused, the gunman contacted the Paripally police.

At Kadamabattukonam, the police intercepted the van, and took Rajesh and another person to the police station for interrogation.

Rajesh told the police that he found tailing the Minister’s car an easy way to avoid traffic snarls. The police did not find anything suspicious in the van. They said the owner of the van had been summoned from Alapuzha and the van would be released on his arrival.
