Kozhikode: Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Saturday inspected the site for the proposed International Hospitality Management Institute here.

Talking to reporters later, the Minister said that classes at the proposed institute would begin next academic year. The Minister added that the Government was trying for another institute in Alappuzha. These institutes, along with the Kerala Institute of Travel and Tourism Studies , could provide skilled manpower for the tourism industry, which it needed badly, the Minister said.

The site was owned by Kerala Soaps and Oils Limited. It is now being partially renovated. A. Pradeepkumar, MLA, also accompanied the Minister. The three-year Hospitality Management degree courses will be offered at the institute in the initial phase.
