New media can preserve knowledge: Vice-Chancellor

KANNUR: Kannur University Vice-Chancellor P. Chandramohan has said that Internet-based new media technologies should be utilised for preserving traditional knowledge for the coming generation.

Inaugurating a seminar on ‘Changing media discourses’ organised by the Cooperative Arts and Science College at Madayi here on Tuesday, Dr. Chandramohan said that the web-based new media was able to spread information that had been hitherto preserved in libraries.

Former Folklore Akademi chairman B. Muhammed Ahamed delivered the keynote address.

Papers on print, visual and web media were presented at the seminar.

R. Subhash of Kairali channel, Mahesh Mangalat of M.G. College, Mahe, and V.V. Viju of Mathrubhumi were among those who spoke at the seminar.
