National Youth Day programme launched

KOZHIKODE: The Social Renewal Mission of Sree Ramakrishna Mission celebrated the birth centenary of Swami Ranganathananda, the founder of Sree Ramakrishna Mission, on Saturday. Ranganathananda is revered as the second Vivekananda by his followers.

At the function M.P. Veerendra Kumar, MP, launched a month-long programme organised to mark the National Youth Day which falls on January 12 which is also observed as Vivekananda Day.

Swami Mukhthananda, Head of Anandasram in Kanhangad, gave the keynote address on the theme “eternal values for changing society”.

A major function being held as part of the month-long programmes would be the presentation of an award instituted by Trissur-based Swami Siddinathananda Smruthi Samithi to Swami Chidanandapuri.

The award would be presented by Pranesandanda Swami, secretary of Ramakrishna Mission on December 14.

An essay competition on “eternal values in changing society” would be held for students of high schools and higher secondary schools the next day.

The competition will be followed by an interactive session between Sobhana Nair, a Bangalore-based educationist and the students. There would be a symposium on “sanghajanani” the next day.
