Mar Thoma Sabha Mandalam meet begins tomorrow

Retired priests to be honoured

The meet will come to a close on Saturday



PATHANAMTHITTA: The Mar Thoma Sabha Mandalam, supreme parliament of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar, will meet at the Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Hall in Thiruvalla from September 3 to 5.

In a statement here on Tuesday, Church secretary Fr. K.S. Mathew, said Mar Thoma Metropolitan Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma would preside over the inaugural session at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostum, senior Metropolitan of the Church; Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus Suffragan Metropolitan; and bishops Yuyakim Mar Coorilos, Joseph Mar Barnabas, Thomas Mar Themothios, Isaac Mar Philoxenos, Abraham Mar Paulose; and senior Vicar General Fr. P. George Zacharia will lead the inaugural service on the occasion.

Joshua Mar Ignatius, Metropolitan of the Mavelikara diocese of the Malankara Catholic Church, will deliver the benedictory speech. Fr. K.S. Mathew will present the annual report and budget.

The meet will start after the holy Eucharist at the St. Thomas Mar Thomas Church on the SC Seminary premises on Friday morning.

Retired priests will be honoured on the second day of the meet on Friday.

Award

The Mar Thoma Metropolitan will present the Manavaseva Award instituted by the Church to Fr. A.K. George and the Maliyekkal M.C. George Kaseessa Prize for best writer to Fr. M.C. Thomas on Friday forenoon.

Two children, V.S. Lincy and Ansu Mary Sen, who were toppers in the SSLC examinations will also be felicitated on the occasion.

The three-day meet will come to a close on Saturday, the Church secretary said.
