Make teaching attractive: MP

PATHANAMTHITTA: Making the teaching process attractive is a prime requisite for the existence of the general education sector, said A. Vijayaraghavan, MP, here on Monday.

Mr. Vijayaraghavan was inaugurating a seminar on “E.M.S. Namboodiripad and Kerala’s educational development,” organised by the Kerala School Teachers’ Association here on Monday.

He said the State’s general education sector had been facing a threat from parallel educational institutions. Making the teaching process attractive at the government schools was the only way to counter that.

These schools had well-qualified and better teachers. Mr. Vijayaraghavan said the creative steps taken by the government led by E.M.S. Namboodiripad, the first of unified Kerala, was what led to the democratisation of the State’s education sector.

Ninan Koshy, Kerala Education Samithi chairman, delivered the keynote address. K. Ananthagopan, CPI(M) district secretary, presided.
